Official Obituary of Luke M. Martin
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Luke M. Martin, age 34, on February 3, 2026. A lifelong Chicagoan, Luke was a beacon of strength, loyalty, and love to all who knew him.
Born February 12, 1991, he was the beloved son of Patricia (nee Hagan) and the late Michael Martin. Luke was an awesome brother to Chaeli Martin (Joseph Busking) and Samantha (Matthew) Wirta, and the devoted fiancé of Rachel Herman. His joy was found in family, and he was the proud, fun-loving uncle of Rocco Autullo and Graham Wirta. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends.
Luke built his career with skilled hands and steadfast dedication as a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150. His “Union 150 brothers” were a second family, and his work ethic was respected by all.
Luke’s vibrant presence will be deeply missed. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family, his beloved Rachel, and the entire community he called home.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel, 7740 S. Western Avenue, Chicago. Funeral Saturday, all to meet directly at the chapel for Mass at 10:00 a.m.
